After a selection among three architects, Zecc Architecten from Utrecht was commissioned to design De Waterman in Rijswijk.

The planning area is located between Nijverheidsstraat and Korte Haven and includes a parking garage, a high plinth with commercial spaces (including catering) and approximately 120 owner-occupied homes ranging from 55 to 130 m2.

The architecture refers to sturdy harbor buildings with a specialization in the crown. The name De Waterman, which was devised in collaboration with Brickx Communicatie, also refers to the connection with the port.

On Wednesday, November 30, the plan was presented during the Neighborhood Drinks of the Havenkwartier, where approximately 160 local residents, entrepreneurs, developers, civil servants and alderman Van de Laar of the municipality of Rijswijk gathered.

In the coming years, the Havenkwartier will be transformed into a living/working area according to the urban development plan that Studio Hartzema has drawn up for the Municipality of Rijswijk.

The project is being developed in a partnership between Rebirth Development and BPS Real Estate.
